Computing at Eastfield

At Eastfield we strive for pupils to be masters of technology. Technology is everywhere and will play a pivotal role in pupils’ lives. Therefore, we teach and model how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely. We want our pupils to understand there is always a choice using technology and as a school we model its positive use. We encourage staff to try to embed computing across the whole curriculum to make learning creative and accessible.

Our knowledge rich curriculum is balanced with the opportunity for pupils to apply their learning creatively which will in turn help our pupils become skilful computer scientists. Our computing curriculum follows the National Curriculum which focuses on a progression of skills in digital literacy, computer science, information technology and online safety. We want children to leave Eastfield having the knowledge and skills that will equip them for an ever-changing digital world.

We use the Teach Computing Curriculum from the National Centre for Computing Education which has been designed by experts, using the latest pedagogical research and teacher feedback.  The program covers key stages 1 to 4.
